Campus Ministry
At Norwalk Catholic We Believe…
- The foundation of our Catholic schools is rooted in Christ and His Church
- The cultural diversity of our local Church provides opportunities to embrace different cultures in our school communities and to recognize God’s image in all whom we encounter.
- Parents are the primary educators of their children; working together, the sense of family and a faith community create an atmosphere of trust, love, and partnership.
- Made in the image and likeness of God, we respect the dignity of all life in its physical, emotional and moral dimensions.
- Through active involvement in Christian service, all students assist in upholding the respect and dignity of every person and of God’s creations.
- We are called to transform ourselves and our communities through the living and modeling of our Gospel teachings and baptismal vows.
- All children deserve to have access to academic excellence through active participation in challenging and enriching learning opportunities.
- School communities represent safe environments where everyone is treated with respect.
- Technology is a tool which should be integrated across all areas of curriculum to support higher-order thinking skills, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Mass is celebrated every week on Wednesday for Grades 7-12 and Thursday for Grades K-6. On special occasions and Holy Days, we gather together as an entire school community and celebrate an All School Mass together. Many of the students are actively involved in the Mass, including the planning and implementation. Students minister as Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Altar Servers, Gift Bearers, Ushers, Singers and Musicians. They also participate by mentoring our youngest Flyers during Mass by sitting with the different grade levels and helping them be active participants through responses and singing.
Student ministry teams are also actively involved in the planning and implementation of Prayer Services and faith activities that take place at different times of the year and for special occasions. These prayer services and activities include Reconciliation, Stations of the Cross, Holy Monday Prayer Pilgrimage, Rosary, Pet Blessing, All Saints Day Carnival, Catholic Schools Week and 6th Grade Move-Up Day, to name a few.
Christian Service Learning actively involves students and staff in recognizing the need within the community and greater world. Through the creation of relationships with non-profit organizations throughout our community and world they come to a better understanding of the help needed to engage in the service.
