We have made it to Spring Break! I hope the upcoming week off is one of fun, rest, and recharging for all within our school community. Please pray for our students and their adult leaders on our Culture Trip to Costa Rica over Spring Break. 29 students are participating in this year’s trip. Thank you to Mr. MacMurray, Mr. Beal, Mr. Burge, Mrs. Pertner, and Nurse Sue for leading this year’s adventure. Our 8th grade trip to Washington, DC went great and all returned safely Wednesday night.I received the following email from one of the tour bus drivers yesterday and wanted to share it with you:
My name is Phil Lechak, and I had the privilege to be assigned as the Gettysburg Licensed Battlefield Guide this morning, on the girls’ bus, for your school.
I used to referee soccer, in my younger days, in CT and always had my personal cutoff as 12 years and down. They are girls, but once they hit teenage years – Grade 7 and up, they are ladies.
Please know that your young ladies were respectful, attentive, and just plain fun to be with. The two-hour tour ended too quickly.
In my opinion, they are well on their way to represent your school, in the future, as mature Christian women. Your impact on their lives is self-evident.
They represented Norwalk Catholic in the very best traditions on your school.
With respect,
Phil Lechak
Receiving messages like this one is a great reminder of the effort our students are putting into embracing our expectations of what it means to be a Flyer each and every day! I am proud of all our students and the adults that guide and teach them.
This past week our freshmen took their IOWA tests. The IOWA tests are our state approved assessments we use for graduation equivalency. Students are tested in the subjects of ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. I am excited to report that over 50% of our current freshmen, and all of our sophomore, junior, and senior classes have met their equivalency scores needed for graduation in all subject areas.
Have a wonderful Spring Break and pray for all traveling over break. I look forward to welcoming our students back to campus on March 31st. Go Flyers!
