Principal Update:
It was a wonderful week on campus celebrating Catholic Schools Week. The entire week was filled with personal reminders of how special our community is and what a gift Catholic Education is in our lives. Experiencing the Living Rosary with our elementary students was a great centering activity. Praying the rosary together as a Flyer Family was a powerful witness to our faith and connectedness as a school community. Our panel of local veterans was both humbling and inspiring. The honesty, humility, and perspectives of our guests was powerful. Our students had the opportunity to hear from a dynamic group that shared a great deal of wisdom from their diverse experiences serving in the Armed Forces.
Our focus this past Thursday was on vocations. It was a very special treat to welcome Sr. Carolyn and Sr. Joyce back to campus. Sister Joyce is a very special person in my life. Over 40 years ago, she was my 2nd grade teacher in Toledo at Holy Rosary School on the east side. We both grew up in the same neighborhood and her ties to my family are very deep. Her presence made my Catholic Schools Week truly special. To think over all the decades, places we have lived, and to remain connected and still active in the ministry of Catholic education and our lives linking us back here in Norwalk, Ohio is an amazing story and profound blessing. I’m so grateful for Sr. Joyce, having the opportunity to spend some time with her this week filled my heart with gratitude and joy. The witness our priests and sisters provided our students was powerful. I am thankful our students had the opportunity to interact with such faith-filled people. It truly was the highlight of the week!
Next week we begin the month of February and our classrooms will be back in routine. I think we are all looking forward to our daily routines normalizing after an awesome Catholic Schools week and a very shortened school week before it…I am very proud of our faculty and students embracing the challenges and maximizing our time together in a productive way.
Congratulations to our Mock Trial Team that qualified for regionals. Great job students and Mr. Fair. Also congratulations to Mrs. Weisenberger and our competition cheer team that took first place in last weekend’s Best in State Competition in Columbus. Have a wonderful weekend.
Gratefully,
Mike Gocsik Principal
