Prayer Before Opening Christmas Presents
Lord Jesus, the gifts are here; we are here and as always, you are here.
You have promised us that whenever we gather in your name, you are near.
We thank you for these gifts. We thank you for each other.
But most of all, O Christ, we thank you for your nearness here.
It is the Christmas gift that all Christmases celebrate.
It is a gift that will surely last forever.

The gifts are open, Lord Jesus Christ. Soon our celebration will be over and our thoughts
will drift to next Christmas. Even so, you are still here.
Be near us, Lord Jesus; we ask you to stay close by us forever and love us, we pray.
