Director Update:
Last week may have started off a bit rough, but we certainly ended it with something to be thankful for. As we gathered for All School Mass on Thursday, I was reminded how blessed I am to be part of a community that doesn’t just teach religion—we weave faith, prayer, and Gospel values into everyday life. Our children learn how to live their faith through kindness, service, forgiveness, and respect for others.
As the final song was played and staff and students from grades K–12 joined together, my heart was full of praise and thanksgiving. While we may not have been able to enjoy all of the fun events or dress out of uniform all week, we did come together to pray and profess our faith as one community.
That is what makes Norwalk Catholic such a special place. Students, teachers, and families support one another, celebrate together, and grow together. Children are known by name, and relationships truly matter. Thank you for being a part of our school—especially here in Early Childhood, where we feel honored to lay the foundation for many years to come.
Valentines Day Celebrations:Next week we will be celebrating Valentine’s a few different times. Pre3 will celebrate Thursday (2/12) and Friday (2/13). Mrs. Zendejas & Mrs. Griffin’s Pre4 and all kindergarten classes will be celebrating on Valentines’ Day Friday (2/13). Please refer to your child’s specific classroom newsletter for more information on classroom events. All students are allowed to wear jeans and a Valentines’ Day shirt. Presidents' Day:Monday (2/16) there will be NO SCHOOL in observance of Presidents' Day. Enjoy the extra day off with your family. Ash Wednesday:Wednesday, February 18 we will host a small prayer service for our morning and afternoon preschool students to distribute ashes for Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is always 46 days before Easter Sunday and marks the beginning of the Lenten season. Lent is traditionally a 40-day fast as a reference to the time Jesus spent being tempted in the desert. This seeks to prepare our hearts as believers for the solemn remembrance of Jesus’ death. EC kindergarten students will receive ashes at mass that afternoon. Preschool students will receive ashes at St. Mary’s church. We welcome all visitors who wish to attend but we ask that you enter through the side door, by the ramp, next to the parking lot. Times for these prayer services have not yet been decided.
Rare Disease Day:
At the end of the month, help us celebrate Rare Disease Day on February 27th by wearing green, pink, blue or zebra print! Rare Disease Day uses the symbol of a zebra, as no two zebras have the same pattern of stripes.
Hazel Miller, a current kindergarten student was born with an ultra-rare genetic disorder that causes her to have low muscle tone. This is most easily noticed by the position of her head and some challenges with movement. We celebrate this day to recognize the creativity that God has when designing each one of his children!
Shirts Available for Purchase: Rare Disease Day shirts can be purchased on the Flyer Spirit Store to be worn on February 27th. Ordering begins now through February 13th and will be available for pick up the week of February 23rd. All proceeds will go to the Fisher Titus Pediatric Rehabilitation fund.
