Chris Doughty '09: Back Home in a New Role at SPH

There is something refreshing about walking through your door after going on an extended vacation out of town. There is a certain comfort found in being in your own home. When I officially accepted my teaching position as JH/HS Intervention Specialist at St. Paul High School, it truly felt like I was heading “home”.

I was excited to be a part of the culture and tradition that helped shape me as both a person and an educator. Many of the faces have changed from my time as a student at St. Paul High School, but the core values have remained the same and, in many ways, have been strengthened.

I have always been involved with coaching athletics since high school, but being back in the classroom this fall has been a new and fulfilling experience. Being able to interact with the students on a daily basis, participate in events like pep rallies, and attend weekly Mass with our staff and students has been even more rewarding than I anticipated.

Norwalk Catholic is an incredible community full of like-minded individuals who strive to educate children both academically and in their Faith. I’ve seen this already in my own home with my daughter, who is in her second year of preschool at the Early Childhood. We talk about the academics of her day, but also get to discuss the Faith component that she learns in Atrium. It also excites me to see how many of my former classmates from Norwalk Catholic are now enrolling their children to continue the tradition of Faith-based education.

There are many exciting happenings at Norwalk Catholic with many more on the horizon. I don’t think I could have picked a better time to come “home” and help continue to build this incredible campus into a place for children to grow into loving and Faithful servants of God.
