We are pleased to welcome Mr. Glenn Armstrong to our Flyer Family as our new 5th, 6th, and 7th Grade Band Instructor! Mr. Armstrong brings a wealth of experience and a passion for music to Norwalk Catholic. We are excited to have him join our school community and look forward to all he will bring to our students and band program.
Glenn Armstrong was born into a musical family. Both of his grandfathers were active musicians, one a guitar player/singer in church and the other a respected trumpet player in New Orleans and Mississippi. Glenn's uncles from the Armstrong side of the family were members of the "Soul Brother's Six," the original writers and who first recorded "Some Kind of Wonderful.
Glenn got his start in music, at the age of 6, in the family band which performed at many area functions and events. Percussion/Drum set and Bass Guitar are Glenn's principal instruments. Glenn attended Sandusky St. Mary’s Catholic School where performed with the marching band, symphonic band, and jazz band. Glenn studied at The Cleveland Music Settlement, and was a percussion major at the Ohio State University receiving instruction from the late Dr. James Moore.
In 1995 Glenn established Strongarm Entertainment and began focusing on playing bass Drums/Percussion and bass guitar, co-writing and arranging original music, as well as
performing with a numerous variety of local and national acts. Glenn has past performances with the Firelands Symphony Orchestra, Towne and Country Players Orchestra and many more. Glenn is a past vice-president of the Towne and Country Players Theatre organization.
In 1991, Glenn had the honor of performing in a drum clinic at Sandusky High School, with the late William Ludwig Jr.(Founder of the Ludwig drum company). Glenn has been the music producer and business manager of an award winning Elvis Tribute show, and has performed with Neil Diamond Tribute shows. Currently, along with his wife, Glenn performs 140+ a year throughout Ohio, MI, and PA. Glenn has taught music lessons for over 25 years in Sandusky and Bellevue. Volunteering for 10yrs as the Percussion instructor for the Bellevue High School Marching Band. For the last 15 years Glenn has been at Mossman’s Music in Norwalk, as well as traveling throughout the area teaching at students homes.
In addition to the active music career, Glenn also served the City of Sandusky as a Police Officer for 15 yrs., reaching the rank of lieutenant.
