Flyers Meet Historic Cyclists During Golden Jubilee Ride

The Golden Jubilee Ride made a special stop in Norwalk as cyclists traveled from Detroit, Michigan, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Some lucky Flyers had the opportunity to meet the Wheelmen, learn about their incredible journey, and even climb aboard the iconic high-wheel bicycles.

On June 21, six Wheelmen set out on the same historic route to celebrate both America’s 250th birthday and the 50th anniversary of the original ride. Appropriately named The Golden Jubilee Ride, this journey honors a memorable trek that began in 1976.

Fifty years ago, more than 30 Wheelmen embarked on a cross-country ride from Independence Hall in Greenfield Village in Detroit to Independence Hall in Philadelphia to commemorate America’s bicentennial. Today’s riders are retracing that path, keeping history alive and sharing their passion for these remarkable bicycles with communities along the way.  To learn more, visit their website: https://highwheelride.wordpress.com/

Happy 250th Birthday America!
