As we navigate Ohio’s winter weather, the safety of our students, staff, and families remains our top priority. At Norwalk Catholic, we recognize there is no adequate replacement for in-person instruction. We value every day of learning and are committed to providing a safe and productive environment for our school community.
As a Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Charted Non-public School, our “calamity days”—are not determined by a fixed number of days, but rather by the total number of instructional hours provided over the course of the school year. As such, we purposefully maximize instructional time throughout the school year to adequately prepare for unforeseen school closures. These built-in instructional hours help us preserve valuable in-person instructional time and minimize the need to utilize other methods such as on-line/remote learning or adding days to the school calendar.
From time to time when school is closed, certain courses and grade levels may send projects or tasks home to maintain the pace and rigor of student learning. If there is a need to make changes to our instructional planning to further maximize instruction, our priority is to make these changes within the hours of the regularly scheduled school day.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work together to provide a safe, faith-filled, and academically excellent education for our students. We appreciate your partnership and flexibility throughout the school year.
