Everyday Law Class Visits Erie County Jail

Last week, the Everyday Law class visited the Erie County Jail for an inside look at how the local justice system works. Students were guided through several parts of the facility, including intake, holding areas, and the main cell blocks. Officers explained their daily routines, safety procedures, and the challenges of working in a county jail.

Throughout the tour, students were able to connect what they have learned in class to real-life examples. They asked great questions and got a clearer picture of the differences between jail and prison, as well as how the jail works with local courts and law enforcement.

Overall, the visit gave students a meaningful, real-world perspective on the topics they study. St. Paul HS appreciates Sheriff Paul Sigsworth and Erie County Sheriff’s Office for taking the time to host us and share their expertise.
