Civics in Action: Mr. Burge's Government Classes Tour Ohio Statehouse

Earlier this week, Mr. Burge’s government classes visited the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus for a hands-on look at how our state government operates. Students toured the historic Capitol building, explored both chambers, and gained a deeper understanding of the legislative process.

A highlight of the trip was meeting our state representative, Kellie Deeter, who spoke with students about her responsibilities, current issues facing Ohio, and the importance of civic engagement. She answered questions and offered insight into how young people can be involved in shaping their communities.

Overall, the visit provided a meaningful, real-world connection to what we are learning in class and helped students better appreciate the role of state government in their daily lives.
