Mr. Gwinn Weekly Video Update 9.3.2025

hey St Paul families it's me it's m Gwen I am back for your weekly update all right so last week it was kind of hard to see me so I should get zoomed in a little bit so you can see my face uh I'm going to make this a little faster as much as I can I did not have my graphic up on the screen last time so typically again this video is just to communicate what we're doing in the building looking forward for the next week or so and also a little bit ahead when it comes to events and things like that so there will be some repetition to these videos just because I want to give you guys as many opportunities as possible to hear me and hear from us and so I'm going to go through some events I'm going to go through some sports and things like that so uh generally everything is going really really well the school's fantastic I told the students today after Mass I said uh every day I'm here I learned to love this school a lot more every day I'm here I find them to be an amazing student of body and I'm more and more impressed with them so just know I'm very impressed with your students I'm very impressed with your kids I love being here my family loves being here so thank you so let's go through the announcements real quick so on the 5th which is Friday seniors you have your capping down fitting so senior parents just know that your your kids on Fridays are going to get fit for their cap and gowns I know it's hard to believe right it's hard to believe uh all this time and all this effort and energy and prayers and now uh they're seniors it's crazy bonfire we are doing the bonfire again this year for for homecoming so the homecoming bonfire is next Wednesday on the 10th from 7 to 9:00 out at the contractor's Parks see I said it right a contractor's Park uh again the baseball softball fields over there right so 79 free pizza please come out please please come out you know if you have little you the younger kids older kids whatever it might be please come out for the bonfire next Wednesday uh the parade is next next Friday at 6 p-m so the homecoming parade like y'all done for years and years and years the homecoming parade is next Friday at 6 oclock and of course we have the game next Friday uh here at home of course it's a homecoming so excited to see everybody there I'll be there hopefully I'll see all of you there and then the dance is the next day on Saturday we have a busy a busy weekend next weekend so next Saturday on the 13th the dance is at the social hall from 7 to 9 9:00 p.m. I will be there while making sure your kids all make good choices right that'll be the whole thing uh senior night parent night so sorry senior parent college night I apologize senior parent college night is the 17th okay that's the 7th so please put that on your calendar uh seniors senior parent college night will be the 17th okay I don't have any more details moving forward for that but those of you who've been around the community have been at the school you know what that looks like and the last 1 there's no date on this because it's just basically started so uh yearbooks are on sale so they can your students can grab them from Miss weisenberger they can pay her and so again your student the yearbooks are in and they are on sale which is which is great at the bottom here you're going to see uh homecoming Spirit Week themes just so you all know as a as the parents uh special you know Junior High parents and High School parents uh with you know with younger students maybe this is their first time going through some of this uh Monday is Jersey day so any Jersey Tuesday is USA USA USA Wednesday is dress up day right because it's Mass day so it's dress up day uh parent of female students let me ask you a favor please just check with your female student make sure that whatever she's wearing is appropriate we've had a few problems in the past so I've been told just telling you what I've been told right we've had a few problems in the past so just please do us a favor and help your students make sure that they are dressed appropriately uh Thursday Hawaiian themed Day hawaiian's always fun and then Friday is our flyer attire 1 little change uh your kids aren't really happy with me about this but 1 little change is that uh if they're not going to wear the spirit gear then they will wear their uniform okay or DNS code over that might be so again if they're not going to dress up then they're going to be in their uniform that day or get in their dress code if they do dress up I want to make sure that they're wearing jeans that's what I'm really looking for again I know this is a little bit of a change some of them are a little bummed out or frustrated but the goal here is to make sure that I'm just going to tighten it up a little bit here at the beginning so that as we can go along and I and they learn me and I learn them hopefully things get maybe a little bit looser but in the end I just I'm looking for professionalism I'm looking for modesty I I really do not I do not want pajama pants I don't want yoga pants um you know I have a higher Bar for our students and for being professional so just know it's where I'm coming from I have my own kids right I have 4 Kids I I get it I get that dress up days can be frustrating and yet you might have to have some fights with your teenagers blame me right you can throw me under the all day long so again uh this time around so if they're not dressed up so that does not mean they cannot wear pajama pants or leggings or whatever else they need to wearing jeans with their dress up gear or regular dress code all right real fast Sports um with our Sports upcoming so yesterday the the volleyball girls played uh freshmen played really well JB played really well man those the varsity team fought and fought against Tiff and Colombian they are very good school a very good team much much larger School than us um I was really impressed with the girls they fought really hard didn't losing it again again in 4 games but I'm really proud of them tonight our Junior High football team plays at Monroeville again I've heard this the town just to the west of us that's what I've been told and then of course our junior high volleyball play at Plymouth tonight so that's tonight uh Varsity okay again some volleyball it's going to be paired tonight on the 4th That's Thursday so parents night here at home really excited for that I'll be there excited to see all of you all um if you have not met me or you don't necessarily know who I am or haven't come up and met me yet please come up and just say hi I would love to get to know you uh it's a big community of people I want to make sure I'm getting to know you uh getting to know your your family for sure and of course this Friday we're going to be at Tiff and Calvert for football all the way in tiffen and then Saturday looks like we have JV volleyball at Norwalk invite and then we have cross country at tiffen again so cross country on Saturday I love cross-country speak could you coach myself so good luck for the cross country team on Saturday but that's the week looks like The Weeknd the sports um some I need to get better about also putting on next Monday and Tuesday I'm I'm getting a little better at this learning how we do things here at Norwalk Catholic I'm St Paul so I'm getting there okay I'm getting there but with said not bad under 6 minutes uh I'll try to get this faster and faster so it's nice and efficient for you but 1 little note is if you play this video and you feel like I am talking way too fast it's because your speed rate is off so just make sure you go to the bottom click on the little lightning bolt and then you can change it to 1 x nought 1.2 if you turn it
