On Tuesday, the sixth grade Liturgy Leaders had the honor of representing Norwalk Catholic / St. Paul High School at the Chrism Mass, held at the Rosary Cathedral in Toledo, Ohio, and celebrated by Bishop Daniel Thomas. This special Mass, which takes place during Holy Week, includes the blessing of the three sacred oils that will be used in parishes across the diocese throughout the year. It is also a time when the bishop and all diocesan priests publicly renew their commitment to priestly service. The students were deeply moved by the powerful experience of seeing so many priests gathered in one place and took joy in recognizing familiar faces among them. They were especially captivated by the blessing of the oils—particularly the moment when Bishop Thomas breathed over the Sacred Chrism, symbolizing the Holy Spirit descending to consecrate the oil.
