Mr. Gwinn Weekly Video Update 10.1.2025 Mr. Gwinn Weekly Video Update 10.1.2025 Show Transcript hey happy week St Paul it is time for your weekly updates so you know the goal of these updates is to make sure that you're hearing from me and you're hearing what was happening in the school what's going to be coming up in the next week or so give or take some events uh some just some some highlights and just kind of give you some feedback from me hopefully that this is a positive experience I hope that you're enjoying these again I try to keep them short as possible uh you don't need some 30 minute run on about how I feel or any of that nonsense so uh this week we're just going to be talking about some highlights and just give you some heads heads up with what's going on so uh tomorrow here at home is US versus excuse me Monroeville so volleyball gets Monroeville tomorrow please all come out I'm sure we'll have a bunch of fans there uh you know the student section will be crazy be awesome and that student section is so much fun I love watching them I love listening to them they're hilarious so come out for the game on Thursday night listen there's Pizza there's food there's all kinds of things and there's you know cookies by Laurie right there's all kinds of snacks you can get at the game so hey bring the family out to way better than going off and you know watching screens all day and I'm going to say this a lot to you it's not a judgment it's just a reality of what we deal with right a lot of us go home and we have I have 4 Kids of my own we go home and it's easy to kind of split up and do different things and so um I'm always going to keep encouraging all of us to be on campus as much as possible have our Amazon Fellowship as much as possible that is what makes 1 of the many things that makes Catholic schools different is coming together raising our families together raising our kids together it's a beautiful thing so let's do that together I'm realizing that in my right my eye right here it looks like it's all bloodshot it's just my red projecting onto me uh Mason batty uh is absolutely killing it at the golf team um freshman if you don't know Mason he's a freshman and on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. he's been teeing off her sectionals in the tournament he won the District Tournament which is the whole golf team girls boys both teams did fantastic shout out to coach Springer shout out to the whole team for building something and to have have a really really really good year uh Mason very proud of you so if you can think of it at the time of you know set an alarm at 9:00 a.m. maybe say a prayer for Mason you know prayer for you know strength of mental mental strength golf is no joke I don't play it for a reason I don't think I have the patience for it so um just great job Mason we're we're proud of you keep going uh pitch your orders if you're a pitcher was messed up so like if your school if the school photos of your student was messed up something was wrong with it you didn't get it uh the something's up with it please contact the company directly there's an email and a phone number I'm going to put it in the newsletter so you can just refer to that um we get an email or phone number call them directly uh future makers this is a a cool event that our freshman go to over at the OV campus something fun it's just really laid-back uh there's some robots there's all kinds of cool experiences so that'll be happening I believe the next week and then College visits next week we have Xavier and melon universities are coming next week week I believe on Friday and Thursday of next week so just me and be a heads up talk to your students uh if they're juniors or seniors something to really pay attention to it's a great opportunity if they're really interested in 1 of these universities it's a really really important time to go and just ask good questions asked them a lot of about what's the process look like sorry I had to sneeze uh what you know what is their process look like what do they want in a student you know what are they looking for in the admissions process and so moving forward the longer I'm here the more and more this will be my focus in reality there's not you know a million different options what students will do After High School right there's high level institutions academic institutions so your high level ones your your hyper competitive ones your Notre Dame's your villain novas those kind of things you have your great you have your great schools your larger schools your really big schools a lot of opportunity is that opportunity right you're Ohio State's huge high level institution colleges within the university that are high level big school right that's a different process you have your community college different process also very valuable I love it I've I've done time in Community College I love the community college experience there's going out just getting a job that's an option they're getting a trade it's going to trade school even you know maybe it didn't do e hovie here they want to do hovie later there's there's all kinds of there's those options there's really not much else outside of that so my goal as a principle is make sure that we're creating a a school that is communicating those things really well we do that already you know Miss Miss phenomenal at communicating what the processes are what students need to do and what I want to do is take it to another level of making sure that we are um discussing the options what do they look like and really pushing everybody really challenging everybody that if you want to go to a Notre Dame what does that look like how can we serve you how can we help you and so we're moving forward there's nothing that we can talk about really right now but something that you know just so you know I'm thinking about and processing uh junior high basketball uh I guess informational meeting will be on the on the third uh that'll be on the third at 3:00 so if you're a students want to be on the Junior High basketball team they need to go to that meeting on the 3rd at 3:00 right after school they need to go to that meeting so just remind them and we'll be we'll be doing here in the building every day but it's also great if you back this up uh we have the Bible study group still open for signups I would love for more students to sign up for that so that would be fantastic and then picture retakes are on the 10th so if your student was not here or if their picture somehow got messed up or if their smile isn't the best or their hair is all jacked up whatever it is we'll be doing picture retakes on the 10th uh so that's all of the lists that I have I got to say I'm I'm very blessed to be here I keep saying the same thing on purpose because it's real I'm very thankful uh to be to be the the leader of the school I'm very thankful to be at St Paul my kids are so happy uh we love living here and I've learned something I've been learning a lot I've been watching and paying attention you know the whole first year of a principal in a new building is is really pretty simple and that is to observe to take notes and to uh listen that's what I'm here to do and so what I've learned is this is a building and this is a community built on hard work loyalty and sacrifice those are the 3 things that this community is built off that this school is built off hard work loyalty and sacrifice I see that and I hear that and so I want you to know like I those are my 3 things too you know especially hard work that is something that I will always push for our students to to really be defined by in life if you're defined by someone who works really really hard then all the other things are really going to be going to be the place so we'll be we'll be figured out in time so I appreciate all of you I'm going to keep asking you and keep pleading with you please come talk to me I don't know everybody um it's it's hard to always want to take the initiative to go and Shake everybody's hand I I I hear that and I won't do that um but I also just love to get to meet more of you and so if you have opportunity I'd love to talk to you I'd love to get to know you more your family more I have little kids we have little kids and love to talk to you too um but I'm here I'm going to be here for a long time and I want to make sure that uh we all get to know each other a lot better so uh thank you and I want to keep being more part of this community it's a beautiful community so thank
